Tales From The Blackheart Man: The Incredible Career of Bunny Wailer
Bunny Wailer at Reggae University (Rototom Sunsplash 2015)
On time (five minutes ahead of schedule), easy going, smiling and followed by a standing ovation. Thus, the Jamaican Bunny Wailer entered the Reggae University just a few hours before appearing on the Main Stage...
There, in the temple of reggae and Rastafarian culture, so packed
that part of the audience had to stand outside, Wailer has reviewed the
history of the Wailers, band founded by him together with Marley and Peter Tosh. “Im still here, surviving the Wailers”, this key figure in the history of reggae said during the session. “Every time I think of them, I feel the greatest respect”
Bunny Wailer remarked. Also, he has not hesitated to highlight the
achivement implied in the preservation of the message of the Wailers
several generations after.
Every one of his words, every phrase, every humming of the songs that
have been played to embellish his history, musical and personal, have
been followed by a round of applause from the audience. An audience that
has said goodbye with the same energy as on his arrival, a normal
gesture specially for someone like him: a key figure to write the
history of reggae.
“We are here today to celebrate this great phenomenon of reggae”, he noted. So, celebrate it.
